The FERAL
The Feral is a large-scale project, from both an artistic and an ecological point of view. Located on the Millevaches plateau in the Limousin region, it was initiated by the acquisition of forested areas and a vast farm building in order to reconstitute a forest complex that is currently divided and under threat. This project, supported by the 3024 association, combines GLF’s two key aims: raising awareness through art and preserving the forests.
A COLLECTIVE WORK OF ART ON A LANDSCAPE SCALE
Each year, an artist is invited to work in this environment and take part in this collective creation. As well as being works of art in the strict sense of the word, the artists’ productions become integral elements of the ecosystem, destined to accompany its evolution over time. Every year, for a short period, the forest is open to the public for a series of events.

A 1000-YEAR PROJECT
1000 years is the time it takes for a primary forest to recover naturally. The Féral is an environmental and social experiment taking place in a forest over the next 1,000 years, an invitation to project ourselves into a time that goes beyond our own lives, thereby disrupting and transforming our experience of the present.
THE PROGRAMME
In 2023, when the building is refurbished, the Research programme will be launched, combining art and forestry through artist residencies and cross-disciplinary meetings.
From 2024 onwards, Raphaël Siboni and Fabien Giraud will produce the eponymous work Le Féral, a generative video installation in which the framing, camera movements and editing are generated by an artificial intelligence system designed to monitor the project over time. The artist Pierre Huyghe has confirmed his participation in 2024/2025.
